Just Registered

Hi folks,

I've been signed up for the daily update of new threads on this forum for a while now and as there's always at least one new thread of interest every day I've decided it's more than time I joined properly. Have cruised (mostly) West Coast of Scotland for over 20 years but as I get closer to retirement I am beginning to plan to sail further afield. Boat is a Vancouver 28, far more capable than I, but I reckon it's never too late to learn and this forum seems a great place for that. Will probably read a lot more than contribute for a while ....

Re: Just Registered

Hi Trumpet and welcome to active membership.

Similar situation here. About to start retirement and get back on the water. Even after years of cruising I still learn new things on the forum constantly.

Welcome Trumpet - lots of good reading here. You guys have a beautiful coastline there on the West coast, just a might chilly.
Enjoy ....

Re: Just Registered

Thanks for the welcome, really appreciate that.

And Blackie Swart - the West coast of Scotland is a fantastic cruising ground. Wrap up warm, don't go swimming unless it's a really hot day and then relax because it's too cold for sharks!

Always great to have someone new and look forward to your observations having read some about your cruising grounds over the years.

True - but still like to sail there some time and just cope with the colder weather.

Happy sailing.

Re: Just Registered

Hello Trumpet, we are at roughly the same latitude just opposite sides of the pond, newfoundland, gotta love that cool north breeze. My old Nic was put together over your side of the world many moons ago.
when you get adventurous upon your retirement, dart on over and stop by for a tea!!

Re: Just Registered

Thanks again for the welcome messages - great way to join a forum.

Nicholson 31 - great boat, used to be on my shorlist. And I'd love to get to Newfoundland by boat someday. Landed at Gander once ....

Re: Just Registered

There you go, we practically know each other already as I live in Gander. It's just 45 minutes to the marina in Lewisporte, I'm sure you would enjoy it here, may not go back!!
