Just Drifting In...

After a few years away from sailing, I getting the itch for another boat. Growing up in Miami in the 50's, I spent a lot of time on the water - but it was all in power boats (Sorry..).

Learning to sail in the Chesapeake was fun, and like many others, a steady succession of boats (Westerly 26 / Southern Cross 31 / Cheoy Lee 48) finally brought me to my senses and my wife and I sold our stuff, moved aboard an Allied Mistress, and sailed from Virginia Beach to the Florida Keys. We enjoyed cruising the Keys and the Bahamas until our last move to Southwest Florida and a home away from the sea. (2004).

It's been too long for me, and once again I'm looking for a sturdy 26-31 footer that I can set up for singlehanding. Actually, I'm looking forward to spending some quality time diving in the Exumas again. I joined this forum in the hopes of re-charging the old batteries and meeting some of the owners of those 'great little boats'...

Anyone wanting to know about the Allied Mistress 39 - I'm here to help. Ours was one of the aft-cockpit, Mark-III versions that had just returned from Europe when we fell in love with her in Charleston, South Carolina. She was a great home for my wife and I and our two little Schipperkes.

Looking forward to spending some time aboard...

Aloha Alfa (diver down?),
Welcome aboard! I got to sail on a friends Allied Princess once and it was a real pleasure. I hope you can find the right boat to satisfy your sailing needs.
There seem to be a lot for sale in your area.
Kind regards,
JohnL
