Re: Jeddah KSA

Not too familiar with the Red Sea side outside of snorkeling and fishing. There's a bit of sailing over on the Gulf side, mostly sunfish and lasers. I always liked half moon bay there-can't remember if it's Aramco or USM property though. Bahrain has a yacht club where you can rent small dinghies, and the club also hosts owners' much larger boats, but you can't rent those; could probably email the club and set up a crewing oppty though. The feluccas in the Nile are great fun if you pop over to Egypt. If you do that though, bring extra food and drink. A favorite scam of the felucca skippers is to take you out, and then say it's extra to get back; at which point you just open your fourth Sakkara, lean back, and say, "in'shallah." They'll take you back right away after that!
Apologies if you know all this already, but I know it's hard to find out about this stuff in KSA so thought I'd chime in.

Re: Jeddah KSA

Was there '89 to 2000 full time growing up, and back for work in 2006. Country has changed a lot, and sometimes not necessarily for the better. Lots of house construction and retail, to the point where we had to stockpile cement for our business because you couldn't find it on the spot market. Culturally well, when we were there in the 90's everyone was very open and that's still the case in the outer provinces, but Riyadh proper was becoming very conservative.

Re: Jeddah KSA

Interesting responses Thank You

The ongoing construction is mind boggling North of the Port area everything looks very new with more in progress projects than you can count. I love the breeze coming off the Red Sea. I hate not looking out and seeing sails but I'm here for business so I just have to take things as they are.
