Thumbs up It's been a long 10 years!

New to this forum, not so new to sailing. We purchased Esconditas, a Bristol 43.3, back in 1996, and have been planning our escape since. After 9 years of living aboard, and learning about our boat, and doing some part time cruising, we are ready to depart and live on the hook for the next few years. It’s been a long 10 years, we have learned a lot, spent a lot of money, but it is now time to go.

The departure date is tentative, some time from July to October of 07. As we all know, you only get into trouble when you are following a schedule. Starting out from the Texas Coast, the hurricane season is going to effect when we get out of here. And after all, we still have a few “projects” to finish.

Energy use is still top on the list, with the cost of fuel we have got to get control of our energy usage. My wife and I love our toys, but toys cost much more than their original purchase price. To that end, I have started a quest to find the best in LED lighting. The thought of lighting the boat for a few amps is very intriguing. This list and others have very interesting threads about lighting with LEDs.

WiFi is the other project underway. Ah, the search for the perfect long range AP. Directional antennas, 400 mw APs, POE, and that 3 Watt amp (doubles as a microwave oven), answers that can be found here and on other lists

It is said that every journey starts with the first step, we are past that, walking fast, but not running yet….

To this list, Be well, Have fun, and DDAS, gig em Aggies

East Coast (any where BUT New Jersey) during the summer, Bahama and points south in the winter.
