Westsail 32
There has been much written about the Westsail 32 as it was a boat that played significantly in the evolution of the cruising lifestyle. Many of them circumnavigated and reports from owners indicate that it's a boat that is quite capable of taking care of her crew. The down side, however, is that it's not exactly what one would call a "spirited" sail. The boats carry a lot of beam and weight, making them spacious with room for stores, but lacking the speed.
Keep in mind that the above comments are what I have gleened from my research, not from direct experience. I would also guess that the Westsails, getting along in age as they are, might be project boats (not necessarily a bad thing). Just in from an afternoon sail myself. The water temp in these parts is still ony 38 degrees, but the air was sunny and nearly 70. Winds at 15 to 20 knots. I packed up the desk and sailed for a few hours. Now, it's back to work . . . No regrets at all.
