Introduction and Hello

Well I'm pretty sure my wife and I have been saying we are going to escape to the islands for as long as we've been married, 26 years. Now our youngest graduates high school this month and the idea of pulling the eject lever and exiting our current life has grabbed a hold of our imagination big time. We are hooked on YouTube sailing VLOGS, and trying to set a time table to sell the businesses, home, and everything and moving aboard a sailboat.

So here I am. Every journey has to start somewhere. I'm here to read and learn.

Re: Introduction and Hello

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF Padastty!

"EJECT?" (Sounds like pilot talk, and there are a number of pilots here on CF.)

You are likely to get hooked on CF if you really want to learn, as there are many experienced sailors here and most are willing to help with answers and occasionally some fun. I learn something new here every day or get a chuckle or two.

One Tip: Get your wife to join CF as a member too. There are many female sailors, and here there are some with a lot of experience and wisdom and good advice. There is also a "social group" within CF that is focused on women sailors, and there is a LiveAboard forum here with discussions that address some of the common concerns men and women have of liveaboard life such as cooking, cleaning, comfort, companions, pets, budgets, etc.

Bon Voyage on Your Journey.

Re: Introduction and Hello

Hi Padasty and welcome from a former Atlanta resident.

Good luck with your plans. This forum is a great resource for starting out. If you are just learning to sail Lake Lanier and Lake Alatoona aren't far and a good place to practise (if you can avoid getting run over by a houseboat or water skier).
