In the UK, New to Boats and Forums

Hello,

My partner, kitten and I have just got our first boat - a 42 foot steel yacht. We're going to move on board in a couple of weeks and live for a year before doing a bit of bluewater cruising.

Current things I'm stuck on: re-upholstering cushions, redoing bathroom. Every option is x100 and it's hard work to work out how to get things done!

Looking forward to being part of the sailing community

welcome aboard!
some patterned curtain material from the second hand shops on top of your cushions will make an immediate improvement.

a new jabesco toilet and hoses will set you back £150,but having a working crapper improves quality of life tremendously

Thanks atoll! And for the tips.

We have a toilet in there that is fine but want to redo the rest of it. Heard a rumour that it's possible to spray resin ceiling, walls and floor...sounds like it could be a nice idea.

Anyway thanks for the welcome

Re: In the UK, New to Boats and Forums

you could try some of this stuff, then plywood panels.

Spray Foam Insulation Kits - TWISTFIX

not sure if you will have much luck" spraying" resin, what ever you do be very careful with any sprayed product on board as (a) it is highly flamable, and (b) wear a proper respirator,isocyanates/polyeurathane are very dangerous if inhaled

FTUG, Welcome to the community. 'sounds like you're well into an exciting adventure. I've always owned fiberglass boats and my knowledge of steel hulls is weak, but I do know that there is an important regimen regarding coatings and ventilation to prevent corrosion. Be cautious with research before applying these coatings. I'm sure others here will be imformative.
