Howdy the boats!

We sail a Coronado 23 fixed keel on the Columbia River between
Oregon and Washington when the river bottom allows!

*Lately.. water has been low!

Next boat will be a Retirement boat 6' headroom.. diesel and
able to go outside and on up to Canada and beyond. A older
classic glass cheoy lee- Alberg- no bigger than tarten34c in mind..

Thanks-
Doc~

Welcome aboard Doc!

I spent my teen years just above the dike level up by Troutdale on a horse ranch. And spent a lot of time watching the boats going up and down the river.

A lot has changed since then but still brings back good memories. I even have a shot of St. Helen's before she blew her top.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the forum............................_/)

*I like your "Crackerjack" avitar.. *I wore that outfit to asia and back
in 1971-73.. The open space blew my mind.. and I wanted to pick
up a sanpan and explore "a beautiful coastline"<G>

We pulled into Hong Kong for a week and today I kick myself
for not visiting the Cheoy Lee shipyards! I'm a sucker for a
vintage "china girl"..

It sounds like we walked the same path for a while. I hit the S. Pac back in 69 and was back and forth for the next 4 years (73).

I didn't get to see the Choey Lee yards but did see plenty of the Junk yards.

Aloha Doc,
Welcome aboard!! Good to have you here. Salem, OR is where I was born and raised. Left in '63 for the Navy.
I won't mention Subic City, Yokosuka, Taipei, Hong Kong of the 60s either.

Pattaya Beach is the only place in Taiwan I got to go. Of course, Saigon, when it was Saigon and the river. Good old days? No, not really.
