Howdy! I finally got a boat!

I'd like to introduce myself to the forum. Im Rick and I am a new boat owner. Well, new in the whole live aboard size cruising boat world. I spent much of the past 10 years racing catamarans and with another change in my work schedule, I'm making the leap to living on a boat.

The past three years or so I've been backpacking around the world, half with work, and half for pleasure. Much of that can be found here Richard Griffin Photography and Travelog

Well, after some 130k+ miles travelled by land and air, its about time I get some by sea.

She is a PDQ 32, and she looks dirtier in the photo than she really is... I promise ;-)

Which one (name) did you buy? I think I know most of the west coast PDQ's.

Re: Howdy! I finally got a boat!

Welcome and good choice on the PDQ 32. Fit, finish and parts used are all top notch for the PDQs. Since you used to race cats you have to comment on how you like maritime life in the slow lane. Checked your web page, Offshore Seismic Geophysicist, does that mean your working in offshore oil exploration?

Yessir! We were based in the North Sea for most of the last three years, hence most of my European travels and photos, but we are back in the Gulf of Mexico until this Sept before heading back to the NS or the Caspian Sea. I guess you have a little experience in the industry?

The 5 week on 5 week off rotation is nice... Will that make me a commuter cruiser?

Re: Howdy! I finally got a boat!

Also, I read somewhere that the PDQ 32 has a better rating than a Hobie 16 with a 72.5?!? I doubt that is the case, or there was one helluva captain on that thing...
