Talking Howdy from the Spanish Virgin Islands
Well, I suppose I'm suppose to introduce myself here. My name is Erin and I just purchased my very first sailboat. The boat is a 26' 1967 Sailstar. So she is as sturdy as they come and happy to be sailing again.

I myself was introduced to sailing and the cruising lifestyle only a couple of years ago. Needless to say I was enchanted with the idea. So here I am folks... living the live on a small island and living on my boat.

I'm going to have a lot a questions and this newbie hopes to find friendly and useful advice.

The original owner who still lives on this island had done a lot of modifications. Apparently so much that this boat would be unrecognizable. The boat has wishbone rigging which I'm figuring out and would totally appreciate any information on.

Good to have you here. I'd say if you could post a photo of your rigging we might be able to help figure it out. Is it just your boom that is wishbone?

Thanks for the welcome! Culebra is definitely a nice spot and just as Boatman describes.
Perfect idea about the photo John. However, I am not responsible for the condition of my boat as shown in the picture I'll put up. This was taken on the first day ownership and she had sat for two years. Moldy but dry.
The main and staysil are wishbone rigged. The jib a typical hank on.
Friends and I have sailed her three times testing and trying out stuff, and had all the sails up on the last time.

Welcome to the center of all that floats and gloats. I, along with quite a few of the forum wish we were there with you. Keep us posted on how long and HOW you and the wishbone rigging get along. Watch out or SEAHAG, she might try to sag you for her trip from SD to Mexico.

HI Erin,
we just cruised thru the spanish virgins and are in the american virgins. Youll love where your at, its great cruising, make sure you go to salinas its a beautiful harbor, we spent the night in a mangrove filled bay, just fabulous scenery
