Howdy from KL!
Hi all, I am a Texan living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Recently got my ASA 104 (bareboat skipper) certification in Phuket.
Don't have a lot of miles under my belt, but the plan is to be volunteer crew for anyone in this part of the world that will have me, in preparation for buying my own boat, most likely a 36-40' cat. I run my own software business online, so I am available any day of the week, for up to a week (or more if the situation is right).
Any recommendations about how to get miles as crew aboard any reasonable size boat is highly appreciated!
Thanks!
Greg

Welcome to CF Expat. I am a fellow Texan with a love of Malaysia. Hope you find great crewing opportunities.
Next time you come home, bring me some Laksa!

Thanks RainDog!
Laksa, nasi goreng, beef rendang, pandan chicken, best mango in the world, rambutans....ok, I'll stop.
One of my oldest friends guides for trout in your neck of the woods. He's a fisherman and a writer, sort of a modern day Hemingway - Captain Kevin Cochran. Know him?

Hi Greg,
I recently bought a Beneteau Oceanis 430 which I keep in Penang. Will cruise the Langkawi-Phuket waters as soon as get some bits and pieces fixed. Nothing fancy or luxorious, only some of the best cruising waters in the world. Not sure of my timetable yet as it has proven difficult to find certain parts over here, but would you be interested in crewing?
