Howdy from Colorado

Hello all
I'm David Sullivan from Colorado. Originally from Texas. Been land locked most of my life. A somewhat recent car accident made me rethink my life. So now I'm here hoping to finally get started doing what I've always dreamed of. I have a wifey type person (ask if you want. I would) and a 2 year old son. I look forward to chattin' with ya'll.
PS. no boat, no experience, what I know is from books and study and other sailors.

Howdy David!

I am landlocked in Texas.

Since you want to learn about sailing, in addition to the books you are reading, you can find many videos to view for free on Youtube. And, if you have an Amazon Prime Membership, you can find several full length videos (hour long stuff) on sailing too.

Good luck following your dreams!

Re: Howdy from Colorado

fjwiley1 Thank you for the welcome. I look forward to the info. Gonna make this thing happen I-gar-ron-tee. Guns...yeah bummer but got it figured,,been doing alot of reading before I joined...cuz I like shootin' them thar cans. Just kidding. Late at night and had rum.
Steady Hand-yeah I watch a ton of the youtubes vids, pretty much everyday, and even now as my phone alerted me to new replies. So far my favorite are DrakeParagon's and the S/V Devos. Amazon Prime vids?? I have an account. I have watched only a couple I have found ("Maiden Trip" with the 16yr old girl to be the youngest to sail around the world. Very inspiring) But what others have you found. Would love to know. BTW Texas raised, Texas in my blood.. Hail from Cal Farley's Boys Ranch...many many moons ago

Re: Howdy from Colorado

Hi Again David.

I know a little bit about the Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and I was favorably impressed by what I learned. I wish I had made it up to see the Rodeo when I was attending Rodeos in Texas, but had schedule conflicts at the time.

As for sailing videos on Amazon's Prime streaming service, there are several that are focused on cruising, and several that are instructional (seamanship, navigation, etc.). I suggest doing a search there for "sailing" and then look for the related videos that come up with each title. That is how I found them. There are several (at least 10 as I recall).

Fair Winds!

Welcome to CF GrimC!

Saw your other post, and you are already well on your way down the path to being a sailor... All the info received is spot on... I'll lean towards finding a club and or getting a small trailer sailor and simply doing...
