Hi to all out there. I am new to the forum communication method so please bear with me and feel free to add any comments that will help me navigate this.
I am currently landlocked after spending a summer on a 56' Matthews Chartering out of Juneau, AK. Because of business and personal issues I am forced to put the vessel up for sale (It is still for sale if anyone is interested). I would like to get back on the water and was thinking of trying to purchase a boat for a liveaboard in the LA-Long Beach area. My current job is in Cerritos, CA so I have to be within commute distance of there. I have considered a Sea Ray, have seen a 1990 34' Wellcraft Marine GrandSport that looks interesting and also a 1968 Tollycraft. Does anyone have any comments on the seaworthiness and mechnical reliability of any of these craft?

Welcome aboard Don. Not many power boaters here but you could post your request for info in the Liveaboard's forum. Plenty of info there on what you're planning to do. Doesn't really matter if it's a power boat or sailboat, living aboard has its benefits & challenges.

There certainly are a lot of boats for sale where you are currently located. I've heard that slips are the hard thing to come by.
You might think about a sailing vessel? Just a thought.

I just picked up a copy of the San Diego boating newspaper, The Log and the front page article is about all the available slips in SD (after years of long waiting lists).
