Hi to All

I'm in the process of tying up loose ends relating to my terrestrial existance and preparing to enter the life aquatic. Just turned a young 60 and am buying a Tayana Mariner 40. The boat had been undergoing a complete refit which was discontinued short of completion. Much work remains to be done although the owners have done a wonderful job so far. I will be reinstalling appliances, cabinets ect., sealing and coating the deck, working on the masts,rigging and fittings, lots of painting and varnishing and on and on.
I've been lurking on here for about the last year while looking for the right boat and now that I'm buying it, it's time for me to chime in here. I look forward to excellent communication and exchange of information.

Welcome aboard. The Tayana is certainly a good cruising boat. Hope you have some fun finishing her out.

Do you plan to do most of the work yourself?

Where is "home" right now.

I've been in Louisiana for the last few years, but have ties in Wisconsin and Texas. Too cold in Wisconsin, too hot in Texas.
Yes, I'll be doing about all of the work myself. I have a motorhome that I'll take to N. Carolina to live in while I work on the boat on the hard at a marina.

"Ole Codger"? Time flies. don't remind me. I've got to make sixty the new forty to have any of this make sense.

I may grow older, but I refuse to grow up! I still run around like I have good sense. About the only thing age has done for me, is allow me to make enough mistakes that I don't have to make too many of them twice, I try to learn from them first time around. As we know if we don't learn from the mistakes, we will surely repeat them until we do.

Good to have you here. Tayana seems like a great choice. My last Mariner was an all wood 35.

Mine was a 1967 Far East Mariner 35. Bill Garden design. Great sailer. I did the Hawaiian Islands and sailed it to the Pacific Northwest. Once you get the repairs done you'll have a great boat.
