Hi ! Newbie from SF Bay Area

Hello everyone, I just finished my Basic Keel Boat class & loved it.
Interested in finding out about sailing events & also getting more practice out on the water.

It was between OCSC & Tradewinds, went with Tradewinds but now I dont know what club to join. I'd like to get more experience & crew on the weekends to get more comfortable w/sailing before I take the next classes & purchase my own boat.

Bay area has great sailing. I'm sorry I don't know the clubs there but there certainly are a great deal to choose from.

Vallejo is an active club and closer to you than most bay clubs, which might be helpful!

Yes, Vallejo is about the closest place that has two dimensions of water - as opposed to a one dimensional river. Going further into the Bay Area gets you more options, but the struggle to get from Sacramento to Richmond, Berkeley, Oakland or Sausalito will dissuade you from going...

There is also Club Nautique in Alameda.

Driving an additional 45 minutes past Vallejo gets you to the central SF Bay which is beautiful.

well for that matter the cal sailing club is closer than Alameda, and is one of the best ways to learn to sail well with out spending a ton. I hadn't thought of it. Those little boats have a lot to teach us, and they do bigger keel bokat sailing as well.

Not too worried about distance, just want to make sure I join a club w/the right atmosphere & fun events!
