Hi V69:
Welcome aboard. Great Forum we have here. My Dad used to own a Newport 30 very nice 30 footer. roomy and reasonably quick.

Aloha Viking,
I think the Newport 30s are great boats. Almost bought one in the late 80s. Lots of room in a 30 footer. Welcome aboard!! Hope you enjoy this forum. I certainly do. Kind Regards, --JohnL-- |

I am from Airlie beach at the moment. (I live on me boat when i am not at the mines working) been here 2 months was in gladstone before here. only had this boat about 6 months after selling me stink boat. had never sailed before (only had motor boats) but thought bugger it i will figure it out. I am learning as i go and have sailed from bundaberg to here without sinking and i am learning heaps from helpful people as i go. and OH sailing is awsome I should have started years ago. Now i am just learning and saving so i can take of cruising next year.

G'day Mate or however I should best welcome a "down underer" aboard. There is lots of good information and varied opinions here. Enjoy.

I sure know a lot of people doing what you are doing. Half of our neighbours in Mackay marina were at the mines making bikkies for a cruise. Airlie is great, you are within a couple hours of my favourite hangouts, the hut at double bay, nara inlet, macona, saw mill bay, gulnare etc etc... I like Nara for the action and double bay when it's good to get away from the charter mob. Top spot! I am writing this in Queens Beach, Bowen.
