I sailed the North Channel a few years ago, and its one of the prettiest spots you'll ever find. I believe its at the N. end of Huron (the Canadian coast). As for cold weather, I'm in Chicago watching the Bears loose bad to the Patriots -- in a blizzard!!! Boy do I hate Winter here. Give me the warm weather of the South.

North Channel is at the North end of Lake Huron, just east of where Michigan and Huron meet and runs along the north side of Manitoulin Island. Some of the best cruising grounds in the GL and is world renowned.

Picture was taken in Baie Fien at the eastern end.

Strictly Sail Chicago is a relatively small show in terms of the number of boats you'll see but is a decent cross section of great lakes sized boats. Having said that, the seminars (most are free with a paid admission) are well worth attending.
