Hi from SoFla

Looking forward to the world of wisdom to come from here for the rest of my days. Been sailing since 2000, mostly charters and a couple regattas. Moving to a Nautitech Open 46 in the BVi in coming months. Jeff and Emily.

Re: Hi from SoFla

So since my Hi message a couple hours ago, I've been reading forum messages. Gotta say.. there are more than I care to see, bad attitudes and smart alecs. My experience is that with the exception of a few very crusty old salts I've met boat people, both sailing and power are nice courteous people. Why the attitudes here?

Re: Hi from SoFla

Jeff keep in mind this isn't a regional BB, it is worldwide with a lot of different personalities here.

There are a lot of different viewpoints as well, keep an open mind and maybe you will see one thing from three or four viewpoints.

Stay positive!

Welcome Jeff and Emilie, there are a few armchair sailors here and perhaps just human nature to want to take a shot while hiding behind the Internet curtain. When you meet folks on the water it is a different setting.
See I just took a shot at armchair sailors without really meaning to...

Re: Hi from SoFla

Howdy Jeff.
Welcome Aboard CF!

Most of the members of CF are people I would enjoy meeting in person.

A few have attitudes that would make that less likely to happen.

And some are simply just misunderstood because text only communication can lead to misunderstanding of their tone and intent.

For example, I know of a CF member who seems "crusty" on the forum, due to his typically short text writing, but I have spoken with him for over an hour on a very nice phone call and never felt he was "crusty" or difficult, or had a bad attitude. On the phone call, in a dialog, he sounds nice, perceptive, reasonable, and understanding.

Bon Voyage on the Forum and on the water.

Hi Jeff, it's unfortunate that someone new to the forum can get that impression so quickly.

If you can look past the silly conflict there is alot of value to be had. You will soon learn who is worth listening to and who isn't.

It's a great resource mostly.
