Hi from Newcastle, Australia

Bought a Bollard Design 40ft steel motor sailor last year and am slowly restoring it. (atm classification = barge). Started with the biggest job first, the engine room. Back to bare metal and onwards. Cant understand why some people do what they do on boats ! Makes for wonderful little surprises along the way. Me; 49yo separated two wonderful daughters, one mini foxie named Donut and the Lady Kara. Life is good although a little cramped with no floor in the saloon. The club is seeing a lot of me lately for meals! Cheers.

Hi Coachbolt,

I have only just joined the forum myself today but noticed your intro post. We have a house at Tanilba Bay in Port Stephens but we spend most of the year out here in Alice Springs.

We are just going through the hoops of purchasing a sports cruiser, we were buying one already birthed at D'Alboras in Nelson Bay but it failed survey so we backed out on that one.

We have since found another cruiser at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast and we are having the survey and mechanical checks done this Tuesday if the rain stops long enough. If it passes the inspections then I will be flying over to Brisbane and motoring it down the coast to Port Stephens in a few weeks time.

I am hoping to find someone on here that has done the trip from Southport to Port Stephens so they can give me some idea of where to make for on the way down and how long I should set aside for the voyage.

Sorry. Can't help you on that one. I know how long it takes by Jetstar if that helps. :-) First time yacht owner (but grew up with boats) and all my travelling has been by air. I will ask at the club. Good luck with the trip.
