Hello all,

I'm new to not only this forum, but also pretty new to sailing, but like all of you, I'm hooked.

My boyfriend has a San Juan 24 which he keeps on the lake here, so my experience is limited to day sails with unpredictable wind coming over the hills around the lake, but I'll take a day out on the boat - wind or no wind - over pretty much all else any day.

At some point in the next few years, I would love to take some time to go cruising, which is why I'm here. I would love to hear people's experiences (bad and good), get information on ways to make money, tips and tricks, supplies that have proven to be invaluable, and just sailing in general.

I look forward to the insight that comes from everyone - experienced or not! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Aloha Melody,
Welcome aboard!! Sounds like your sails are challenging with winds shifting here and there plus increasing intensity. Its not boring and is a good way to learn how to make the boat continue to move in all conditions.
"Start Sailing Right" is a great book that I recommend for any new sailor.
