Hi all from Rav

Hi everyone.

I've just joined the forum after lurking for a while enjoying the interesting, informative, and sometimes hilarious postings.

I'm based in the UK although I hope to be setting off on my long dreamed of Med cruising adventure soon.

I've just sold my little lifting keel 23 footer and I am in the middle of the impossible task of choosing the right boat for my planned voyage. Well, not so much a voyage as parking up somewhere warm without a chain and badge round my neck!

Welcome Rav...There is only one right boat for you...and that's the one you fall in love with.

My problem is that that there are so many lovely desirable boas around. Wooden ones, GRP ones, ketches, yawls, classic sloops, deep keel cruisers, slippery dragonesque classic racing yachts! I see beauty in all of them.

I guess I am a a boat tart!

I do have a second date with a Sadler 34. She does rather make my knees knock!

Rav.

Hi I am also in the UK at the moment. I currently have an offer on my house and I'm waiting for the sale to complete so me and my husband can purchase a yacht to live aboard. We are also looking for a boat and after 5years of looking at desirable yachts, mostly online, now we really want one there doesn't seem to be anything suitable available. Maybe we are more picky now.
We quite fancy a Ferretti Altura 422 and hope to purchase one in the Med.

Re: Hi all from Rav

Hi Milofacto,

The Ferretti Altura was new to me but after a quick Google, it is a nice looking boat. Nothing looks quite as good as a ketch rig. From the advert I saw online (in Sicily), there is a lot of boat there.

I really like the idea of a sheltered helm. It has made me look at the Beneteau Evasions 32 which is around my LOA limit for singlehanding. I think that the Evasions only go up to 37 feet so they are probably not the length that you are looking for.

Good luck in your boat hunting.

Rav.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here and posting. I too feel that for singlehanding smaller is better.
kind regards,
