Hi all!

My wife and I are new here! We are getting ready to purchase a 50+ foot vessel to sail blue waters around the world. I have prior USCG experience afloat on large and small boats and previous small sailboat experience. Wife and kids have boating experience but none sailing. We will be learning our boat for a while before we venture out on the high seas.

Ultimately plan on retiring in the South Pacific, so our boat will be our transport when that day comes. Currently we reside in Louisiana on the water with access to the Gulf. Plan on relocating to SE GA if all the stars align soon.

Re: Hi all!

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF!

Sounds like a great plan to me.

Retiring to the South Pacific too? That would be nice.

Since you are new to this forum, let me mention a few things you might miss but that could help you more enjoy your time here:

B]There is a free Cruiser's Wiki associated with this forum. [/B]
There is a LOT of free content in that wiki. Including "cruising guides."

There are also some "social groups" that are more focused on special interests, and as I saw, they can be fun for their members. I am not a member of those groups, but you should be able to find them if you do some exploring of the forum website, look for "groups."

Cruisers & Sailing Forums - All Groups

Taking kids on a cruise would be GREAT. I bet it will be a GRAND adventure for all of you and the stuff of many wonderful memories.

A Few of my Favorite Tips for New Members to this Forum Who Have Kids:

Mermaids Group (206 members)
It is for women sailors and boat owners. It has 206 members. Cruisers & Sailing Forums - ~~Mermaids Group~~

Ahoy All Sailors! Need Crew for a long voyage either coastal, ICW, or across an ocean in 2016-2017? I am available. See my CF Profile "About Me" page for details. Happy to lend a hand!
