Help with mooring 300mn from Plymouth UK

Hi folks,
I am restoring a loverly (i think) ketch in Plymouth UK. The restoration is going well and the vessel is back in the water but I need a tempory home (12 months) before beginning the voyage home to Oz.

Can people advise on a suitable location to winter , pref on the hard for a 65' x 16' with 8' draft. She is steel and weighs 35 tons. AND I am a cheapskate and really don't want to pay the kind of money asked by the local marinas.

There is a bit more replating to do so the location has to be friendly for 'hot work'.

Willing to take the boat to Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France, maybe further south.

p.s. I am also looking for a 12-13m mizzen and rigging for the boat.

Aloha Ricardon,
Welcome aboard! I can't help you at all with your search. Maybe there are others here that can and hope that they reply.
Kind regards,
JohnL

WELCOME aboard, ricardon.
You've posed quite a challenge - but, then, you (yourself) seem to be undaunted by challenges. Good luck!

Thanks

Hi folks, thanks for the encouragement. The cruisersforum has been of great help already through the links and hints I have already read. No-one likes to wast time re-inventing wheels and it is so good finding a community willing to share and encourage.

Hopefully as my own project matures I will be able to contribute in turn.

Getting the old girl water tight and back in the water has been challenge enough for the last 4 months and I have had to return to Australia for a few weeks. Hopefully I can get have again soon and get her sailing.

Gday Ricardon,
We are in a marina called Fambridge Yacht Haven in Essex. They are a pretty friendly bunch who don't have any problems with people working on their boats. Our berth fees are reasonable, don't know the costs of being up on the hard though. We are about a half mile walk to the train into London for my wife to work, there is a toilet and shower block on site. You would have to give them a call and see if the travel lift will lift your boat. Yacht Haven Marinas - Operating marinas in Lymington, Plymouth, Largs, Troon, Neyland and Fambridge
We plan to leave the UK and head for the South Pacific next year also, so it would be good to compare notes.
If you have any questions, give me a call on 07817 405 833.
Regards
Marno
