pirate Hello Wind Lovers

Hi all, I have a dream to learn to sail and sail around the world. My dream is a little more complicated than this but I figured this is a good place to meet others who love wind power and sea where this takes me. I currently live in Humboldt County of Northern California and have 1 year left at Humboldt State University. If anyone would like a volunteer deck hand for a month or so between June and August, I am your man! Cheers to the Sea!

It's a TransPac year. Might check the web for a crew list for the race. Those boats always need crew for the return trip. Probably would look favorably on someone who would do both the out and in run.

Re: Hello Wind Lovers

Its a very achievable dream Gabriel. Crewing is a great way to start. See if your university has a sailing club or if there is one near by. Even if you start to sail on dinghies you will be well on your way. The dinghy principals are the same as those on a maxi yacht. Plus they are more fun and you will get a better feel of boat handling much faster.

Get a copy of sailing for dummies. Its a good learners book regardless of the commercialism that surrounds the Dummies series.

Either way, just keep chasing it. See you out there
