Hello, time to post an
introduction. We have recently purchased a Bayfield29, and are very excited. We plan on sailing the North Channel of Lake Huron for a season or two, beginning next year(it's currently on the hard). After that, we plan on sailing it here to Amherstburg, ON and then enjoy the
boat and sailing much closer to home. My wife has just completed an introductory sailing course, and she has plans to take some further courses including
navigation this coming
winter. This is a bit of a step for us, I have "captained" a 24 foot Limestone
boat out of Blind River, ON, and previously owned an 18 foot drop
keel day sailer. We are in the process of selling our motorcycles, and jumping into sailing with both feet<grin> If this all works out, and we enjoy this as much as we anticipate, then in a few years, just short of
retirement, we'll sell the Bayfield, move up to something larger and with more creature comforts, and prep it for a move south, hopefully as far as the
Caribbean, and maybe even further...who knows. Yes, a common dream, and we hope, an attainable one.
I guess that's us in a nutshell so to speak, we are looking forward to reading and
learning on this forum. Thanks for having us!
