Hello to all of you!

I just joined this Forum and for what I read it seems very interessting. I just acquired a 1979 Tanzer 8.5 # 003. I picked her up in Valleyfield Québec and I am bringing her to Ottawa, Canada. Her name is Winsome Lass and I think she will be very good to us.

I will have a lot of question. I have not sailed for 13 years and it was on a 20 feet sailboat...long long time...I am especially concern about my Spinnaker...don't really remember how to use it...and my husband does'nt know anything about sailing...it is new for him. I will have to teach him and I am not very comfortable yet...but the season just started here so I will take my time!!

Talk to you soon!

T8.5

There is a group for Tanzer owners at yahoo. Do a search using Tanzer 22. On that site you will find other T8.5 owners including me, the owner of T8.5 #13. I bought it new in 1979. I also own a T22 #743, bought it used last December. I can likely tell you anything you might want to know about the T8.5, just ask here or join the yahoo group.
There is a T8.5 in the Ottawa area, I think it is Bounty.

51 degrees

That is close, but the border is at 49 degrees North, with a couple of parts that are quite a bit lower for Canada, and a couple of bits that are higher for the US, not counting Alaska.

I know Knottybuoyz is above 51 degrees, and I believe Winsome Lass is also. I wasn't sure about you, but took a guess

BC Mike, I know about that group, just sent an e-mail but no answer yet! Thanks for the help. I saw that you are interested to lower the entrance of your 8.5 it is a little high, I was thinking about it myself! I will try to contact the other 8.5, he is on the other side of the river, actually we call it the pond! They cannot go anywhere else but the Lac Deschenes...))
