Hello to All from GCS, Florida

I am a little behind on introducing myself......I stumbled on your site a couple of weeks ago. My name is Linda and I live aboard a little over 4 years now. My husband and I work full time but each day brings us closer to the cruising dream. I look forward to poring over this site.

Hi Linda. Welcome to CF.

Best wishes with your cruising plans. Hopefully you can quit those jobs, and get out there sooner, rather than later.

Welcome. I'm headed your way soon. Looking at Reynold's as a place to do some work on my boat before heading to Panama. Need some repair work done on a wood mast. Know anyone?

GCS ?? where is that ?? just kidding .. I was down there in March having my rigging replaced. always enjoyed the stretch of river from Jax to the shands bridge and the southern hospitality along the way

WELCOME LINDA,

You must be in GCSs Marina, or else we would know eachother. I spent 6 years in RPYC, and did a ton of grilling there........i2f

We have a 37' Irwin center cockpit. Almost a complete refit. Not quite ready to retire but def getting closer to being able to take a couple of months off at a time. Possibly finding work along the way. Baby steps, looking to go to the Keys and/or the Bahamas, not sure which we will do first.

Yes, We are at Green Cove Springs Marina. We know several ppl at the "gated" community. Some of whom left here when they closed the piers.
It is def a different place to be.

Re: Hello to All from GCS, Florida

Hi Linda,

Welcome to the forum. I had my boat hauled at GCS in 2010 and trucked over to my place in Gainesville for a refit. Hope to truck back over and launch early spring.

Last time I heard the marina was closed for repairs to the dock. Are they renting dock space again?

Skip

There is an independant contractor here at Green Cove Springs Marina. His name is John Butler. He did some work not too long ago on a ketch with wooden masts. (as well as work on the mast) Not sure what all he did but if you call the office (904) 284-1811 Crystal can give you his number. I do believe he is on vacation until the end of the month.

The pier is still closed. The only floating docks that are rented are full, mostly with live-aboards. I would suggest if you know a date to get on the schedule. Fall and spring seem to get packed in a hurry.
