Smile Hello to all

dreaming the dream and trying to get it done, maybe one year from now..need to learn and learn and learn...
I'm from Germany but living in the Netherlands for about 20 years by now.
Had have two boats so far but only powered by motor, so no idea about sailing.
Plan is to get a boat, a nice crew and sail to Barbados..after becoming a sailor at least as much as possible.

Re: Hello to all

I am sure you will love Barbados. We sailed by 4 times and it looked cool.

And while going to Barbados, make sure to stop at Madeira and Canary Islands and maybe Cabo Verdes too! All fine and interesting places to see from a boat.

We live in Canary Islands now, so if you hurry up somewhat ;-) we may have a beer here and chat about Barbados.

Rum is an alternative, but if you are going to Barbados, you do not want to spoil your palate with Spanish rum! ;-)))

Welcome to the forum!

Cheers,
b.

Re: Hello to all

Thank you for the welcome,barnakiel.
It may not sound very "sailor like" but having Rum gives me a hangover for about 3 days, so I better stick with a cool beer or a nice glass of wine ;-)

Before Barbados a lot of sailing has to be done, getting to know the boat and getting an idea of what I am doing. The Islands in the Mediterranean sea and on the Atlantic are for sure on my list.
To hurry up is not that easy; got to find a boat first, saving a little money and in my work I'm bound to the school vacation time.
Hopefully next year around this time, I can sail away south of Europe for a few month before starting the life I would love to live.

cheers,
Frank
