WELCOME aboard, Dave.
Having the opportunity to cruise those locations, I bet you spend a lot time being "thrilled". I suppose you’ve seen the recent "Best of Great Lakes" thread at http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...kes-17475.html under the "Great Lakes" destination heading at http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f66/

Hey Gord
Thanks for the welcome and the thread. Just back from a couple of weeks along the eastern end of Georgian Bay. I did get "thrilled" a couple of times. Wind tends to funnel off the bluffs between Lions Head and Wingfield. Also, water temp varied between 57-62. Not a lot of swimming but you can drink the water (Assuming, of course, that you've run out of beer...) ![]() |

I did a quick check and the water temp is 82.5. We don't do a lot of swimming due to jellyfish unless in specific locations. At no time would we drink the water so it's best to have extra beer should you come on down.

Aloha Dave,
Welcome aboard! You've got a great boat. Sometimes the water temp gets down in the 70s here. Brrrr! Kind regards, JohnL |

We don't get a lot of jellyfish up here although I'm pretty sure I saw a Tuna at the pub a few nights ago. I'll make sure to stock enough beer if I take the boat down your way.
There's probably a joke here re water and US beer but I'd best leave that alone. |

Hey Blue Noser
You live in the one place in Canada I'd live if not where I am now. The Admiral and I were talking just last night about how beautiful your part of the world is. Are you in Halifax? Dave |

If I'm ever down East, I sure will. I've only sailed there once. I understand there is a very active sailing/racing scene in your area. Dave |

sure is, on the 9th aug we are hosting the shearwater to petpeswick race should be fun. lots of racing in halifax harbor, i prefer the waters a little away , cleaner and nice for swimming etc. Like i said i am new to the sailing so taking awhile to learn but love the swing keel, can get into all the little coves and areas for a good sleep over
