Re: Hello, New and Learning in San Francisco

Paul, welcome, from another SF Bay sailor. Enjoy, be safe, and reef before you need to. :-)

Been out in the bay 5 or six times now in 20 knot winds. Working the kinks out of the boat and myself. Having a blast!

Re: Hello, New and Learning in San Francisco

Just keep in mind that during the winter, or anytime there's runoff from upriver, lots of deadheads and other debris will be in the Bay. Last week saw at least ten large piles drifting into the Bay from near Pier 70; the storm, and perhaps the tsunami surge, pummeled the many old piles in this area and now they're adrift until the COE grabs them. When they become waterlogged, they tip vertical and are barely visible. These can be boatkillers. So keep a good lookout.

My pleasure, and stay dry. Maybe soon the sun will shine for more than a day!

An optimist! It's still raining.

Re: Hello, New and Learning in San Francisco

Yea, I agree.
I have to take down the Jib to repair, the staysail has a small tear too. Next week should be nice. I need a nice calm day to take it out of the roller furling. Yesterday was wild. Had a blast. Can't wait for some new sails. I might replace all sails and keep the average worn ones I have for an emergency use or backup.

Thanks,
Paul
