Hello from Victoria, BC

Hello, I am new to this forum. My wife and I have extensive cruising experience in the Pacific. I have done several international yacht races and also teach professional mariners navigation and shiphandling. We took out two daughters offshore for four years and our now land locked with a house. Looking forward to out next trip.

Sailing with kids was amazing, you get to experience your travels through your eyes as well as each of your children. It took us a while but we did learn that it was a good idea to seek out other kid boats and try and rendezvous with them. Prior to that our destinations were more driven by where we as the parents wanted to go. In our last year, while crossing the S Pacific, we came across a lot of other cruising families and would do that bit many times over. Next time, we will get a one year visa to Fr Poly.

Welcome Neighbor!

Hey there Peregrinata!
Welcome! I am living not far from you in the San Juans with dreams to do a Pacific tour as it sounds like you have done. Sounds like a life worth checking out... Cheers!

Hi Peregrinata !
Welcome aboard ! I'm from Kelowna and living for extended cruising with my two kids in September . So far here in the Okanagan I had never bumped in to people who cruised with children .

What do the stars under eveyone's name signify? How are they "awarded"?

The 'stars' represent landmarks in the members' number of posts.
More stars = more posts (sorry, don't recall the exact formula).

The stars are awarded for incorrect answers. When you reach 5 stars, like me, you aren't allowed to answer any more questions.

Dang! I just did it again

Seriously, though. Welcome aboard!
