Hello from Vancouver, BC - Off for a Year in the Med!

Hello old and new salts! New to the forum, hope to gather some helpful info for a family adventure in the Mediterranean. Happy to share what we know too - a family of sailors/racers for many years. Cheers! Marina

Marina -- what a beautiful name. My daughter and Mom are both named Marina. Welcome aboard.

G'Day Marina and Alex,
Welcome to the site and welcome to the Med when you get here. We've gone West Med to East Med then a year later back East to West - go check our blog for some suggested locations we enjoyed with some pictures.
Cheers
JOHN

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! For those of you in or near the Med we'll be grateful for any information to plan and live our dream. John (swagman) I'll check out your blog site! The plan is to start in Split in June, work up to Venice, back down the East Italian coast/Dalmation coast and head into Greece around late August. Spend the winter months in Turkey, Crete, Cyprus areas and back toward Sicily in February. Then up the West Coast of Italy (Corsica & Sardinia), west over France and on to Spain hopefully by May/June 2011, enjoy Spain and finally do something with the boat from Gibraltar in late July or early August. But...we're flexible! We're thinking about Tunisia and Alexandria...but want local knowledge before we go there. We just want an amazing family experience (husband Matt, son Ross (14) and daughter Jessie (11)). Not sure if I should continue this thread here...maybe I should move it to another one?

Well done again. Possibly best to now move to cruising destinations and start asking regional questions there.
Good luck
JOHN
