Hello, From Valley of The Sun! (Arizona)

Greetings!
I’ve been lurking around the forum for a while now but I’m getting to a point where I may need to start asking some questions. I figured an introduction may be a good place to start with and little back ground. Very little sailing back ground but learning.
I’ll try and make this short. About 6 months ago my wife and I became interested in what it would take to charter a catamaran. Like I said we have almost no experience with the exception that I sailed lasers a lot somewhere around 35 years ago. Yep we’re a little bit older. Thanks to this forum and a lot of YouTube videos we have begun our quest for knowledge. A few weeks ago we completed a 101 class and have started sailing on our local lake. They rent 25’ Catalina’s. We hope to get out every few weeks pending the hot weather we have here in Arizona. Yes, land-locked Arizona. But it’s all we got for now. Our hopes are to complete 103 this October, and get another month of sailing under our belts. Then we plan to head off the Caribbean in late November for 104 and 114.
We do know that nothing beats experience and I wish we have more time to get it. But we also understand that we don’t know, what we don’t know! So taking the classes is the best we can do to try to gain knowledge. The skills, we just need to get out there sailing.

So when you see the “stupid question” from me, please be gentle! We are trying to learn.

Craig
