in my experiance once you have complied with customs and immigration and they have identified that you are on an innocent passage you can expect many people to approach you with offers of help and invitations from interested parties associated with the sea, shipping and yachting.

here is a link to a good friend of mine who was a general in the polish/russian army, and went sailing!
s/v Czarny Diament's comeback after 32-year-long voyage!
Thank you for link. I like to read story of sailing people.
I agree with you that when you passed boarder of country you can meet a lot of good guys which can involve you in interested things and also they can help you if you will need in their help.

Re: Hello From Ukraine

привет george как дела? (or should I call you Yuri?)

My wife is from Dnepropetrovsk and we get there to visit her parents once in a while. We spent a week at Parept swimming in the Black sea and touring around Ylata and other places.

In a few years we will be cruising full time and plan on sailing the Black Sea and pulling the mast for a trip up the Dneper to at least Dnepropetrovsk if not up to Kiev. I have always wondered about going from Kiev further upstream and then trucking to the waterways of Europe to make a big loop.

I did spend some time in Zaporizhzhya looking at the Dam and talking with the lockmaster. The trip is still years away so there is time to figure out what is needed.

Welcome to CF!

Hi.
My friends call me Jora. This is a short way from George.
A few words about your plan. When you go up the Dnieper, you should know a few things. You have to put down the mast. Kherson first bridge has a height of 14 meters. What is the height of the main mast is yours? You will meet a lot of dams along the way and do not go out of the fairway. There are many shoals. Also, be ready to catch net on your prop. Last is not necessary but could be with you.
