Hello to the Forum.
We are Ruth and Duncan who sail aboard our Alajuela 38 much of the time and go back to life aboard our
Canal boat in
England when we need to earn some more
money. We are currently in the Marlborough Sounds of
New Zealand having crossed the Pacific last year and having sailed around
New Zealand including Fiordland and Stewart Island this year.
We spent many years restoring our
boat in
Texas before she was ready to sail including building our own
mast,
bowsprit,
rudder,
hatch and
rigging amongst much more and always do our own
work and
maintenance. Our philosophy is that we need to be able to make and/or fix everything on the boat and we try to make do with less rather than more... within reason!
When we go to
work Ruth is a Nurse working relief largely in renal departments; transplant and dialysis, Duncan is a teacher and a sailing instructor. Ruth is originally from Yorkshire and Duncan Cornwall, we met in 2007 whilst both living on our own narrowboats in the Bath, Wiltshire and Bristol area of the UK.
We write a blog about our travels aboard Impetuous
www.impetuoustoo.blogspot.com which we both enjoy
posting on; giving us something to look back upon and hopefully a resource and source of entertainment for others.
We look forward to drawing on and contributing to this valuable resource for sailors.
