Hello From the Big Easy!

Hello all,

I live in New Orleans and am new to sailing. I might have found the boat for me, but I'm not entirely sure yet. Everything is costing more than I expected!! I'm hoping to liveaboard at least part time. The summers here in New Orleans may make living aboard from May-September mega uncomfortable/undoable, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. If anyone else on here is currently in Nola, hit me up! I'm the only person in my friend group who cares about boats and sailing, so I'd love to meet and hang out with people who don't think I'm crazy.

Yo LW, I am in New Orleans. Sailed the west coast mostly singlehanded but have moved back home and will be bringing a new-to-me Kelly Peterson 44 from Florida in a couple of weeks to South Shore Marina. If you want to get some sailing time, or some experience with fixing boat systems, let me know.
PM me and we can exchange numbers if you want.
What boat are you looking at?

Hi! I'm looking at an O'Day 27 that just happens to be at South Shore. I'd love to go sailing and learn to fix boat systems! I'll find you when you get to the marina

Cool! I'm allowed to go even though I'm not a member?

Absolutely.

On sailing nights everyone who wants is welcome to come, wether they are members of a yacht club or not. Technically on non-sailing nights you are supposed to be a guest of a member, but in reality it is almost never an issue, it generally only gets enforced when someone is acting like an a**.

The race starts at 6:30 tomorrow, so if you want to join a boat (pretty easy, just walk in and ask someone) you really need to be at the club around 5:30. Most boats will be leaving the dock no later than 6:00. I will be up there about 4:30 getting the boat rigged, but I sail a single person catamaran.
