Hi all,
I'm a newbie to this forum. Although I have already started posting to some of the threads. Such great discussions I couldn't resist.

I have lived in the caribbean for 22 years. I originaly moved here for the sailing. Operated charter yachts for 14 of those years. Finally in 2000 was burned out on 100 hour weeks and hurricanes and quit. Went back into photography (my orginal profession) and sold my engineless 22' Falmouth cutter that I owned/lived aboard for 16 years. Went totally ashore. But recently started jonesing for another boat. Purchased a 28' Bristol Channel Cutter (my dream boat for the last 35 years). I live aboard her now in the harbor for Charlotte Amalie. Her name is Shanti and if anyone ever is out this way stop by and say hi!

I look forward to helping out with what I've learned over the years. My background and point of view comes from a heavy dose of traditional balanced by a careful evaluation of the modern. I know that there is no "one size fits all".

But after 8 years ashore there have been some new ideas and technologies I would like to catch up on. I have also forgotten some stuff. I don't have Alzheimer's, just partimers. That is how I found this forum. Everytime I went to research something I kept coming up with posts on this forum. This site is a GREAT resource and the company looks pretty good too!

Good to have another Caribbean-based sailor on the Forum. We have questions about the Virgin Islands on a regular basis, so your first-hand knowledge will be valuable. There are some other CF members in the Virgins, so keep your eyes peeled for Rubikoop, bvimatelot, and Reality Check.

Welcome aboard, Gary. It will be good to have someone with current knowledge in the VI.

I was a legal resident of STT for over 30 years. Have been sailing there since 1969. Now, however, am living in the Washington, DC area.

Welcome. Be careful what you wish for... I'm there in June taking a boat out of CYOA. Will be in and out of Charlotte Amalie a few times picking up family and friends. Maybe we can pass you a Presidente.

Welcome aboard. I haven't been to Charlotte Amalia for more than 30 years but have fond memories. Bristol Channel Cutters are beautifuly design boats. Congratulations.

Any interest in doing a day charter for nine on April 5th. Doing a wedding reception. I'm a ship Captain but this trip will be land based this time. Lots of landlubbers attending.
