Smile Hello from Southern Spain

Hi, friends.

I am very glad to join this forum, that I follow since I started sailing, at the beginning of this year. I hope I will be an active member of this community from now on.

At the present time I am looking for a new boat, perhaps a wooden one suitable for self-restoration. I will keep you informed.

Best wishes.

Holitas,

Make sure you have the skills. Not everybody can fix up a wooden one - you will need skills, tools and materials. And plenty of time. But I bet you know.

Cheers,
barnakiel

Welcome aboard. I would stay away from wooden boats IMHO. What do I know I bought ferrocement.

Re: Hello from Southern Spain

The best advice I ever received: If you really like working on boats.... buy a wooden boat and you'll enjoy thousands of hours of working on your boat. If you enjoy sailing your boat... buy a fiberglass boat to limit the hours spent working on your boat.

How about a good compromise: Buy a fiberglass boat with a traditional teak interior.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. Having owned a wood boat I think that Kenomac's post is pretty good advice.
kind regards,
