Hello from SF!

Hello everyone! New member and relatively new to sailing. Got my first taste a year ago and have been addicted since.

Currently go sailing with a friend who is a member of a club in Richmond. Would love to get involved in sailing more, but somewhere local. Hoping to get suggestions on sailing schools and clubs in San Francisco.

Good to have you here. We've got lots of members in the bay area. Hope they respond soon.

Re: Hello from SF!

Hey Serge, welcome to the forum What part of the Bay Area?

Berkeley has a couple of good clubs/schools, Olympic Circle Sailing Club (OCSC, OCSC Sailing School | Learn to Sail - San Francisco Bay Area | Sailing Lessons | California Sailing Club) for larger boats, and the inexpensive treasure the Cal Sailing Club (Cal Sailing Club - Cal Sailing Club \| Windsurfing and Sailing Lessons \| Berkeley Marina - San Francisco Bay) for smaller boats.

Lots of others around depending on where you are (Alameda, SF, South Bay, Richmond).

Another option is to walk the docks/introduce yourself around the yacht clubs.

And lastly, try the Latitude 38 crew list (Latitude 38 Crew List) they can be pretty good for finding a local ride. There are also a couple of other informal crew lists around the Bay Area.

Some yacht clubs offer sailing classes open to the public. Example:

Welcome aboard Serge!

ASA has a site that lists schools as well. Check them out.

I'm in San Francisco, but definitely wouldn't mind driving across the bay.

That's a really good idea! I just hope they'll be receptive to strangers; I've read for instance that the St. Francis club is invite only. Then again, I am sure there are plenty of others that wouldn't mind.

My sister has actually used Latitude 38's crew list before. I might give it a go as well.
