Hello from Scotland

Hi Folks,

Already posted a few times but haven't made an introduction yet.

No idea where I got the urge to buy a boat from but it's here to stay. Never been sailing in my life, in fact I've not been on any sort of boat since I was about 13. I'm 28 now. Dad was Royal Navy/Merchant Navy so probably got the bug from him in the genes. Never going to be able to afford a house and the idea of experiencing new places 2 weeks at a time makes me sick so boat it is.

In the process of getting all my certifications up to date to go back to the construction trades and set a goal of saving enough within 1 year to purchase a boat while at the same time learning the ropes, literally. Potentially that's anywhere between 10/15 k. Been working as a self employed illustrator for the last year so I'll keep that on part time too. I'll then spend whatever money/time I need to sort it out for actual sea going. Unlike most eager beavers who want to buy a boat and sail round the planet I'm merely planning a long trip around Scotland's islands for a year long taster. The place might be freezing but we've go white sandy beach paradises too...usually not far from a distillery.

Probably ask a load of questions but I'll try and keep them sensible

Welcome aboard
Wow illustrator, you could turn that into a boat job. Anyways, good luck.
