Hello from San Fransisco!

We'll, we'll be in San Fran in 6 weeks or so anyway!

We're new to this forum and the Bay Area as well and looking forward to getting to know the local sailors.

Re: Hello from San Fransisco!

Howdy Kevin, and Welcome Aboard CF!

I took a look at your profile on CF, and see you listed "Humanitarian Photographer." That is interesting.

Since you are new to this forum, let me mention a few things you might miss but that could help you more enjoy your time here:

There are also some "social groups" within the forum that are more focused on special interests.

Here are a couple you might find interesting:

Cruisers & Sailing Forums - All Groups
Pacific Coast Sailors Group (74 members)
Cruisers & Sailing Forums - Pacific Coast Sailors

San Francisco Bay Sailors Group (22 members)

I don't know if you know much about San Francisco or cruising the California Coast yet, but here are a few tips to info that may help you:

IF you are new to sailing SF, and I assume you would like to learn good places to sail, I will give you a link to a guide that is concise but helpful. It shows and tells with some good insights. It even has an itinerary for a day sail around the bay with tips on direction to go and places to see and things to do. I hope it gives you a good start. It was published by "Latitude 38" the local sailing rag (magazine) that has long been a source for good stuff related to sailing in the SF Bay.

Also look for Brian Fagan's book Amazon.com: The Cruising Guide to Central and Southern California: Golden Gate to Ensenada, Mexico, Including the Offshore Islands. It is considered by experienced California CF members to be an excellent resource.

Take a look at the Cruising WIKI that is found via the tab up on the top menu bar of the forum. It has a LOT of information in it you might find fun, interesting, or helpful.

Looking for Quick Answers?

This is the best and fastest method I have found to the answers I seek here.
Since you are relatively new to the forum, here is my favorite friendly forum search tip: Look at the green menu bar on the forum pages for the drop down "Search" menu. Click on that to drop down a list of search functions. From that drop down menu select the GOOGLE CUSTOM search feature (the second box down) and then enter several different descriptive terms for your topic of interest. That will do a Custom google search of ONLY this site and it is likely to find answers to your questions or results for you. Note: this is different from using the regular forum search box or field. Also note, this is NOT found if you use the CF app. It IS found if you use a web browser such as Safari, etc.
