Hello from Phuket

Hi everyone,

We're currently travelling (by land/air}having given up our jobs in London a couple of years back. We are looking into swapping our land based nomadic lifestyle with a cruising one. Our experience is limited having only done RYA Comp Crew course ( in Mallorca on a Jenneau) and having crewed on a very nice Halberg Rassy for a short time.
Thanks

Thanks for your warm welcome. Phuket has been one of our favourite places and one in which we keep returning. Have cruised in local area and it was beautiful, but very hot. At night we tended to sleep in the cockpit rather than the V berth. Do cruisers in the tropics harden up?...must say cruising the Med on our course was much more comfortable and no less beautiful.

Welcome!
Have you bought a yacht or do you want to crew on a yacht? I am in Phuket and will be sailing back to Langkawi soon and then onto Indonesia, I am seeking crew for my small Adams 31' yacht.
It is very, very hot here, but I have found that with plenty of cold water and a good fan at night I end up sleeping under a blanket by 1.00am! The temperature in the cabin rarely drops below 28C and is at 32C most of the day.
A wind scoop is a great investment, makes for a pleasant night's sleep when out of the marinas.
Cheers from Keith.
