Hello from Pelagius aka David Bamber, UK

Hello to all on this forum.

I have just joined the forum. I live in the UK. I got into yacht sailing three years ago and have sailed over 500 miles since. I have a few RYA qualifications.

I have spent the last 12 months day dreaming of owning a yacht. Unfortunately on the South Coast of England where I live you can buy a yacht with the small change in your pocket. But you need to raise a bank loan to afford the mooring fees! Sailing is a bit too popular in this part of the world.

So I have gone off that idea and I guess I will stick with chartering for the time being.

I am in the process of joining a local yacht club. Most of my sailing this year will probably be crewing for other members of the club.

I am going to the Carribean sailing for 2 weeks from 11 January.

Anyway, I look forward to some interesting correspondence.

Regards

Pelagius

Welcome aboard David! Good observation that the "real" boat costs start after you buy it <grin>

I have a good friend here that sailed lot's of dinghy's in your part of the world.
