Hello from Ohio

Just a quick hello from someone who has boated in Lake Erie for the last 25 years, much of it on various sized powerboats.
I've sailed with friends, and crewed on a 34 Beneteau for racing season several summers, and enjoy all but the 'no air' of July.....
My wife and I are trying to figure out how to map out our "next life phase" - and I clearly have one leg on a sail boat and one still on a power boat. Another major matter has to do with location. While Lake Erie has been wonderful, I long to be able to wander the islands of the south- the keys, etc.. in our latter years. I value being on the water far more than getting somewhere "quickly", and $4 gasoline has added a sense of urgency to this debate.
My wife suffers from fibromyalgia - and I am concerned about her ability to handle the move to sail exclusively, as the 34-36 footers we are looking all seem to be somewhat hard to move about for someone with less than 100% mobility. I think a Cat might be a good compromise - but very few of them in the great lakes. I appreciate any and all input of a constructive nature.

Thanks!

We absolutely live for summer and the islands of western Lake Erie. I hope to learn and contribute over the coming months.....
