Talking Hello from new member/first time mono owner/wannabee sailor

I am embarking on my dream! Sold my house in Texas 3 months ago and bought my first sailboat, a 1967 Pearson Vanguard in Newburyport, Mass. where she is currently on the hard at the Westward Marina. (have I really lost ALL of my marbles like everyone says I have)? I am a gulf era vet. (Army), but will be moving The Vanguard to the Navy base in Portsmouth, NH to spend the summer moored there in the Sound Basin (back channel) and then on to someplace warm for the winter. Caravan anyone? Have lots to learn in a short amount of time and eagerly look forward to benefiting from the incredible amount of knowledge contained in Cruisers forum. Thanks for making it free guys!!
Salute,
Matthew Paul

Welcome

It doesn't get any better than New England in the summer (well .....it can get kind of crowded, but who cares?).

Good Luck and Fair Winds.

You might. Doing something is not so much about what others say but how you act upon it. A major change such as you have embarked on requires some new ways of thinking. Adjustments don't come easy. Being able to watch and observe the changes may require adjustments along the way. Becoming anxious can often lead to hasty decisions so it is wise to watch close and look for the minor signs that may require action. You'll need to plan more than you may have done in the past as you make this transition.

All the best of luck and we all hope you can grow into the new situation for the better.

Aloha Paul,
Welcome aboard and thanks for serving! I'd be curious as to the facilities for military at Portsmith. Retired Navy and Vietnam and Gulf vet here.
Kind regards,
JohnL
