Hello from New Guy

I am delighted to be a part of this forum. It seems that a lot of good "stuff" is going on here. I live in the Chicago area and I am looking for a 20-30 foot cruiser to sail the Lake Michigan and/or Green Bay. I am currently looking through the singles ads for a life partner/crew but for now I will have to content myself with single handed sailing. I'm not particularly in a hurry at this point since it is near the end of year but I am always happy to hear advice on boats, marinas, clubs, etc.
I do have a 14' 1972 Catalina Omega that I keep on a small lake in Michigan. I was unpleasantly surprised (after buying it, of course) that it has no deck cleats for tying off to a pier. Catalina says it wasn't designed for that but I don't intend to trailer it or beach it. Any ideas on how to put a deck cleat on a hollow fiberglass boat please let me know.
Just happy to be here! Thanks.
