Hello from Michigan

Looking forward to information sharing/chatting with fellow sailors. We started our boating career with a 30ft Freedom with no sailing experience and sailed Lake Huron for two years. Due to a partnership that fell apart, we lost that boat. Next we bought a 38ft Regal power cruiser. Since we mostly had weekends only for boating, we got places faster. We had to replace engines and other repairs only to fall prey to rotted stringers. Now we were boatless again AND BROKE! We swore off the four-letter word B-0-A-T and vowed to take all vacations on land. Well, sort of. We took a cruise ship trip and a charter catamaran in the BVIs. We've been off the water for three years. This spring we bought a 16 ft Catalina Capree and we're day sailors. Hey - - it's better than nothing and we're back on the water again!!

Welcome!

Welcome aboard, Lolligag!

We're Michiganders, as well, and sail the "other coast". In fact, we'll be taking the boat out this weekend (22' sloop) and pillage the Muskegon area.

Who knows? As we're both trailerables, maybe we can meet in each other's cruising grounds sometime!

Fair winds and enjoy what's left of our Michigan summer!

Welcome aboard CF lolligag! Sounds like you have really lived the boating dream - of is it nightmare?

Time heals all wounds as evidenced by your Catalina purchase.

All in all it's gotta be worth it, right?

Lolligag,
Welcome aboard and welcome back to boating. It looks like you figured out what BOAT stands for? Break Out Another Thousand. Scaling down does have its distinct advantages.
