Hello from Long Island Sound

I just wanted to introduce myself.
I sail a Bristol 30 on Long Island Sound and southern New England.

I am in Noank, CT.
Previously I kept a boat in City Island, so I have gone from the far western extreme to the eastern.
I used to occasionally anchor in Manhasset Bay off that old mill pond, and once or twice had a mooring at the Manhasset Bay YC.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am glad to see that there are some LIS sailors on this forum.
In the off-season I become a walker, and like to visit coastal areas. Here's to a great 2009 and an early spring.

These days I move from the East end (Shelter Island) as a summer base to Glen Island (New Rochelle) as a winter "base" and get to transit the Sound twice a year.

I prefer the sailing out east to the congestion in the west. I wonder if the economic downturn will be evident on the water???

Just out of curiosity. Is the sand pit at Loyd's neck still undeveloped?

Yes, it is undeveloped except for one or two houses at the southern end. The surrounding land is all part of Caumsett State Park.
I hope to get out there on one of the nicer days this winter.

I like yours as well. I visited it this morning. The Great Lakes have some beautiful areas. Unfortunately I have never spent much time around them except for the Cleveland and Chicago areas about 15 years ago.
