Hello from Long Beach, CA (for now)

Ahoy-hoy, internet peoples. Hope to see some of you IRL out there.

I've got to a point of cruising now on a crummy boat, rather than putting in more years at the grind to get a better boat... because they all need work anyway. That's my two cents (and a penny for your thoughts).

I've been sailing since I was a kid, and been guilty of Racing. Had a small squadron of assorted plastic boats, 4 darn cool wooden ones, and some slightly weird stuff. 9/10ths of this was SF Bay and Puget Sound.

Now is the time to make a break. The House is getting sold, the previous generation have passed, and the kids don't have their own yet.

So my thought was: rather than Transpac to Hawa'ii to start, why not get a cheaper boat on the East Coast, and ease into Cruising by doing the island chain in the Caribbean? From there, who knows?

Currently i'm looking for a +38'-ish tub to do this on. I'm open to all kinds of suggestions and shared experience. I've gunkholed tons on ~30 footers and really want more room - as much as I can sail!

waves hello, and if the flag is up, come over for a G&T.

Welcome to CF - we did the opposite, moved from NY to WA.

East Coast sailing is pretty nice. A harbor wherever you want one and pick your weather, too!

Hope it all works out. Let us know.
