Hello from Lawn Guyland New york

Thought some of you might be familiar with the accent. Just wanted to say hello and register so i can post and ask questions (eventually). I am 41 years young and still have my sailing merit badge from the boy scouts. My parents put the crib on their powerboat when i was a baby and i have been in, on and under the water since. I am looking to leave here in the future and live on a sailboat in the carribean. I work in healthcare and have started to explore work options in U.S. Virgin Islands. I am probably 2 years out from executing my plan and look forward to speaking with you and learning all i can from all the knowledge that is contained here. Ive learned much already and thank everyone for their posts. I am no expert in anything but surf, fish, snowboard, scuba dive, spearfish, sail, practice brazilian jiu jitsu, and recently rebuilt half of my house compliments of hurricane sandy. Feel free to ask me anything

Re: Hello from Lawn Guyland New york

My old body shop manager (and friend) taught me the language. He and my southern (as well as myself) wife had a ball teaching each other the local lingo. Richie taught her that it was the same as the south except that you add "and ****" behind everything .... How you guys doing and ****. She taught him that in the south, you can say anything that you want, and it is socially accepted, as long as you add "bless his heart" .... That baby sure is hard looking, Bless his heart. O well, Welcome aboard and ****. lol

I'm glad that I didn't mention some of the other phrases that he taught me.

Re: Hello from Lawn Guyland New york

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I learned it Lawn Guyland just a few months ago when my wife mentioned that a newscaster had mispronounced it and called it Long Island. She spent a little time in Chelsea as an art student at FIT.
Good to have you here on the forum.
